32 Weeks: 8 Months Down, 8 Weeks to Go

Oy! This is definitely going faster than I'd previously thought.

Could be because we've been relatively busy the last week (camping! yay!) but also because the reality is setting in that there just isn't that much time before Peanut arrives. I was telling Jeff just today that there are all these things I want to do this summer now that we're back in Oregon, but I'm starting to realize our baby-less weekends are limited in number, and the second half of our summer in Southern Oregon is basically shot with a newborn. So much to do, so little time!

Perhaps my eagerness to do some of these things is contributing to my fabulous attitude (yes, I said it, I had a fabulous attitude) about things like going camping 31 weeks pregnant. Not a lot of women would sleep on an air mattress in a tent in the woods when they're as pregnant as I am, but I am so excited to be back in Oregon and be able to do these things I've grown up loving to do, that I really can't complain. Here are a couple photos from our camping adventure this past weekend at Lake of the Woods, courtesy of Jeff:

We had SPLENDID weather the whole time, which is pretty unusual when camping in Oregon, especially this early.

(Yes, June is "early" in Oregon for summertime activities. The water is still waaaaaaayyyy too cold to swim in, and it still gets pretty cold at night. Late July/early August is the ideal time for outdoor activities.)

We're hoping to get in at least one more camping trip before Peanut comes, if we can find the time. And if we feel inclined, and think we can make it work, we may try to take her once after she's born. That's a big MAYBE though (I can hear my mom laughing at my naive intentions...)

In other news, as of yesterday, we're officially 32 weeks pregnant, or eight months, by my math. That means we've got eight weeks left.

Eight. Weeks.

That's 56 days. IF she makes it to her due date.

Wowzer. It's coming faster and faster. Here's the 32-week pic:

I feel freakin' HUGE and I know I don't have it quite as bad as those smaller girls with smaller torsos (yes, Tiff, that's you).

I don't expect my shape to change too much more, but I'm sure the bump will get a bit bigger. At roughly 17", Peanut is just about at her birth length, but still has another few pounds to pack on. Hopefully not the additional 4.5 my mom is predicting. I don't want a heifer for a baby, for obvious reasons.

This Sunday will be Jeff's last Father's Day before he's a "real" father (his words, not mine) and I think he's excited. He'll be the best Dad, and I'm excited for our Peanut girl to have such a great Daddy.

Not much else in terms of updating, I'm scheduled for my ultrasound next Wednesday at the 33-week mark, so I may have some more accurate measurements of our little nugget after that. Right now, it's pretty much just averaging what all my different books and phone apps tell me in terms of her stats. It'll be nice to know for sure. I'll try and post a pic of the ultrasound too if they give me one. Just seven weeks before her due date, I imagine she'll look pretty baby-ish. We shall see.

House Photos...Finally!

So I've sort of been waiting for us to get our house completely "put together" before I took any photos to post here. Then I realized, that will probably never happen, so what you see is what you get. I just took these pictures with my phone, so most of them aren't great, but at least they should give you an idea of what our house looks like on the inside.

First up - the least exciting room in the house, the laundry room! Complete with zero storage space and random window with a blind that had never been dusted. Ever. Disgusting.

Here's our "breakfast nook" and kitchen table, which we really only use to collect papers.

Here's the main area of our kitchen, complete with random Rubbermaid tub on the floor and trinkets all over the counters (which are granite, a complete waste in this house, if you ask me...).

Here's a panoramic shot of the whole kitchen, although it doesn't really do it justice.

Next up, our main living area! Here's the "dining room" which is where we usually eat our meals. Jeff is hard at work studying for...something.

And more of our "family room" area, where we watch TV.

I had the blinds open and it's sunny today, so the picture quality is terrible. Oh well, you get the point.

Next, the hallway leading to our three tiny bedrooms.

First door on the right, the guest bathroom:

First door on the left, the nursery. Again, the blinds are open so it's kind of a crappy picture, but you get the idea. And no, I don't have a lampshade for her lamp just yet. Little details.

Second door on the right, Jeff's office and the guest bedroom and also the space we put stuff when we don't know where else to put it. It's a disaster right now, and probably will be until someone legitimately wants to come stay with us.

And finally, the last door on the left, the master bed/bath room.

If you couldn't tell (probably want to get your eyes checked), our master bathroom basically lives in our bedroom. Not the most convenient feature when your husband gets up before the crack of dawn to go to work, but we're making the best of it. Since we can only fit one dresser in our bedroom anyway, we decided Jeff would keep his dresser and all of his clothes in the guest bedroom, and would shower in the guest bathroom. That way he won't wake up Peanut and I when he gets up early for work. That is, if miraculously we're asleep to begin with. The closed door in the photo above is the shower/toilet for the master bathroom.

Here are a few more photos of Peanut's nursery, since I'm sure that's what you're all really interested in anyway.

Her closet doesn't have much in it (yet) but I'm sure that will change. Basically the whole other half is just storing random junk right now, like parts of her Pack 'N Play and a box of my clothes I don't want right now.

 Here's the artwork my sister made for Peanut. Such a lucky little girl.































How neat is this stuff? I found this drawer liner at Fred Meyer and decided I'd spice up Peanut's nursery with it. First I covered the shelves from a shelf my grandpa made for me when I was a baby. Came out super cute!

Then I decided I'd line Peanut's dresser drawers with it BEFORE Jeff put the drawers together. Left me with a completely seamless line and hid all the rough edges. Super cute!!

I think that's about it for today. Tomorrow is the official 30-week mark, and I've already prepared my chalkboard so I just need to make time to take the picture. PLUS I've got a (pretty big) announcement for tomorrow (or whenever I end up posting the photo).
